Pizza Potluck

My husband and I love having people over. While we will occasionally make a fancy dinner, complete with our lovely china plates, crystal wine glasses, and shining candles, we typically prefer to keep it simple. We are very much of the mind set that hanging out with friends shouldn’t be stressful, so we often will go for simple dinners, such as barbecue or pasta. And even more frequently, our friends are coming over to watch a game or movie, so the thought of a complicated and potentially really messy or involved dinner is not appealing for those eating or those (us!) preparing.

A month or so ago, we invited some friends over to watch the Giants vs. Dodgers game (even more interesting because half of us are Giants fans and the rest are Dodger fans). In keeping with hanging out and watching the game, we decided to have a Pizza Potluck/Make Your Own. We provided the dough, sauce, and cheese, while everyone else brought their favorite toppings to add. We got everything from ham and salami to strawberries and blueberries. The fun part was deciding which toppings to put together.

I’ve posted pictures of some of the combinations we came up with. Try them out, or even better, invite some friends over for your own Pizza Potluck night. Look here for a great pizza dough recipe.

Our dessert pizza was probably the biggest hit of the night. We used Nutella as our “sauce”, and piled all kinds of fresh fruit on top–strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, and raspberries. My husband threw chocolate chips on top, just because there wasn’t enough sugar on the dessert pizza!
