Welcome to Lombardia!

Lombardia is a large region in northern Italy. The region of Emilia-Romagna borders it to the south; Piedmont to the west; and Trentino Alto Adige and Venete to the east. Some of the most well-known destinations in Lombardia are Milan and Lake Como.

Lombardia is a very prosperous region with its large industrial sector. It is also a fertile region with many plains, hills, and mountains. It doesn’t have a coastline, although its numerous lakes (almost half of the lakes in Italy are in Lombardia) provide plenty of freshwater fish. With its rich plains history of cattle raising, the region of Lombardia is home to traditional dishes that use prime cuts of meat, such as grass-fed veal for cotolette alla milanese (breaded veal chops) and ossobuco alla milanese (marrow floured and fried in butter). Rice has also been a traditional crop in Lombardia for nearly five centuries. One of their famous risotto dishes is risotto alla milanese (saffron-flavored risotto).

Hmm…I’m feeling hungry! Let’s go make some of these delicious regional dishes!
